BestShelf stores your movie collection and app preferences locally on your device only, within the app's secure sandbox folder. This data includes:

Your movie and TV show collection
Custom ratings and reviews you create
App preferences and settings
Custom lists and categories

This information:

Remains entirely on your device
Is never transmitted to our servers or third parties
Is protected by macOS sandbox security
Can be deleted by removing the app

Third-Party Services

BestShelf connects to third-party services to provide movie information:

The Movie Database (TMDB) - for movie metadata and posters

These services have their own privacy policies. BestShelf only requests publicly available movie information and does not send any personal data to these services.

Data Security

Your data is protected by:

macOS app sandboxing technology
Local-only storage (no cloud transmission)
No third-party tracking or analytics

BestShelf is safe for users of all ages as we do not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
